ANESTHESIOLOGY

Anaesthesia is the abolition of pain perception during surgery along with anxiolysis and amnesia, and to cause adequate relaxation of the muscles to facilitate adequate access during surgery.
It is broadly classified as Regional Anaesthesia and General Anaesthesia.

Anaesthesiology is a medical specialisation with the focuses on patient care pre, during, and post-surgery. It is the administration of anesthesia, intensive care medicine, pain management, and critical emergency medicine.

 Anesthesiologists are responsible for:

  • Preoperative evaluation: Assessing the patient’s clinical condition and creating an individualized care plan
  • Anesthesia: Inducing and maintaining anaesthesia throughout surgery
  • Postoperative recovery: Ensuring the patient’s vital functions are maintained and providing specialized support in critical care areas
  • Pain management: Alleviating pain and providing chronic pain and palliative care Anaesthesiology

1. Spinal Anasthesia
2. Epidural Anaesthesia
3. Peripheral Anaesthesia

Types of General Anaesthesia

1. General Anaesthesia with spontaneous ventilation
2. GA with assisted spontaneous ventilation
3. GA with airway device and controlled Ventilation
